Pampered Chef Spring Launch
I don't always share my Pampered Chef adventures but I guess I have some thoughts. I sell Pampered Chef for my family to have adventures and extras in life. Extras like shoes that help my back feel good, a camper, name brand socks. Nothing crazy or big but things that make our quality of life better. I buy used for almost everything to save us lots but pampered Chef helps us so much. I am praying that one day we can move or add on with the money we have saved through my job. That really is my goal. though I know material goods will not satisfy, and I don't want to be caught up in a rat race of get get get, I feel blessed through my business opportunity with Pampered Chef.
Uncle Dan visit
My Uncle Dan from Oregon came to work on my Grandma's house this July. Of course it was the busiest time of the summer for us but we really felt that it was a priority to see him so after a few days of staying home all day we ventured to southern Iowa to see Grandma and Uncle Dan.
Uncle Dan was finishing up the woodwork around the windows he replaced which looked to be very complicated and precise. So we did our beat to stay out of the way and chat when there was time. We enjoyed some fishing at the south pond, catching many bass. Cade enjoyed putting his tepee back together at the north bog where the cows have been hanging out. He looked a lot dirty free that adventure since cow pies covered the ground. We took Curtis' fishing net and even caught two big frogs which hopped away very quickly. They were big suckers!!
It is always a blessing to be with my Grandma. I have wonderful memories at her property and in her home. It is a blessing to be passing on the gift of these to my children as they start to create their own with her too.

Family Time!
We enjoyed a fun picnic in the park with Pop, Grandma, and the Lambert family on their last full day in Illinois. It was nice and hot but wonderful! Plus we got a great grandchildren photo!
In the evening we enjoyed dinner together, summer birthday presents belated and early, and a campfire.

Happy Anniversary Pop & Grandma!
Kimberly planned a special 40th anniversary celebration the last Sunday in July. She loves her parents dearly and so badly wants to serve them and celebrate all they have done for her. She had a beautiful display of food, and her decor was beautiful. She put so much thought and care into the planning and intimate party. The evening was filled with close friends and family in attendance - Barker boys and families, Uncle Ralph & Aunt Donna, Vickie & Everett Holmes, and Marty Kiser. All important and special people in Tom and Bev's life. 
Team Jesus at The Son Games VBS
We had an amazing week at The Son Games on Team Jesus. Princeton Bible Church held our vacation Bible school the week prior to the start of the 2012 Olympic Games in London. What a week.
The focus of the week was on being a part of Jesus' Team. The kids were asked to Join In! Team Up! Get Strong! Celebrate! Their Bible lessons focused on heroes in the Bible that were a part of Team Jesus. The week also focused on sports where the children had a skill session and a game session with a different sport each day. The students loved the day we did track & field. The crafts were exciting as well.
The week was a hectic with Curtis and I having so many responsibilities. We were in so much of the planning process with Bev all summer. I ordered t-shirts and organized the registration logistics of points and keeping kids where they needed to go and be. Bev did a fantastic job of making it creative with the Olympic theme with a morning march and gold medal ceremony every morning. Curtis did an awesome job leading the morning warm ups with the kids, morning devotion, the training and game sessions with me, and anything else that needed to be done. We felt like the go-to people which was an honor but overwhelming. God used us despite our great weaknesses and frustrations. We planned for our normal 30-40 kids that come and go normally from our church, but that number jumped to over 90 children who walked through our church doors. Praise be to God the way He used this week in the lives of the children who attended, the adults who helped and put in so much time, and our church body who prayed.

Z-Tour
Cade waited all summer for the Z-tour to arrive. For the last 2 summers there has been a big bike ride fundraiser in town for a child care center. There have been signs all over town since May encouraging people to join the ride. It was a really big deal and over 500 people were suppose to ride on Saturday, July 21. There were a number of options for rides - 10 miles, 25 miles, 40 miles, 60 miles, 100 miles. We choose to do the 10 mile ride as a family - Curtis pulling Joel in trailer, Cade on his 20" bike, and Momma! Cade did a great job and we only had one mental break down on a hill. He got frustrated and instead of getting off and walking his bike up, he turned around and rode back down the hill toward the ditch. A bit of a break down but we made it through. On the last stretch Cade would not let anyone pass him. He was determined to "win" even though we were not in a race. What a great accomplishment! So proud of him!
Cousin Central
We got the privilege of being with the Lambert children for 2 weeks at the end of July. It was Cade's ideal way of life. Constant play with his best friend. Everyday at Grandma and Pop's. Pure Fun! 
Happy 3rd Birthday Joel!
We celebrated Joel's 3rd birthday on Tuesday, July 17th. We started with a fun pancake breakfast complete with a candle for him to blow out. All morning he kept running to the refrigerator pointing at the calendar that had his birthday picture from last year. He wanted his birthday party. He didn't understand that we were going to do all of that later in the day. How cruel we were for making him wait all day. /$
We went to he library to try to make he morning go more quickly. And then at noon time we headed to the swimming pool. The Lambert kids were in town with Pop and Grandma so we invited them to come play at the pool with us.
What a fun birthday day!
Our evening ended up with a hotdog and hamburger meal, Rocket cake, presents, and swimming! It was a special treat to celebrate with Caleb, Aly, Jake, and Anna this year!

We went to he library to try to make he morning go more quickly. And then at noon time we headed to the swimming pool. The Lambert kids were in town with Pop and Grandma so we invited them to come play at the pool with us.

Eye & Dentist Appointments
After Joel's birthday Cade had some big appointments. He got his eyes checked and had to get a filling at the dentist.
He was apprehensive about the eye doctor and I don't recall going to an eye doctor so I didn't know how to prep him. He did great! He went right with the assistant and did what she needed him to. She could tell that we read a lot. He did great with the we doctor. He said one eye was slightly near sighted and the other far sighted just slightly. And so slightly that he probably didn't even need to say anything. I think he just wanted my business next year. Cade had 20/20 on everything.
The dentist trip was another story. It was not pleasant. Cade was a trooper. I waited in the waiting room and didn't hear much encouragement from the dentist. Cade wasn't breathing right for them. After awhile I went back to his room. They actually had to fill 2 teeth. Sad. He was such a trooper. The bill was higher than expected but that is life. Another Pampered Chef show needs to be booked! Cade's teeth have such deep pits and are hard to clean. I hope we can figure out a routine to work on this. Flossing, brushing. It is all work that only the mommy wants done.
So proud of my boy for staying strong.
