After our hike we decided we would drive a bit farther along the eastern edge of the north loop to see what we could see. In Dunraven Pass we saw a number of cars pulled over, but we couldn't see what the people were viewing so we continued on our way. A few miles later, we saw a lot of break lights and decided to turn around. We didn't want to get stuck in traffic. When we turned around, Curtis decided he would pull over when we got back to Dunraven Pass. When we arrived, he parked in a parking area, and jumped out to see what everyone was looking at. IT WAS A GRIZZLY BEAR AND A CUB!! Yes!! He quickly came back to the car and we all grabbed our binoculars, jumped out, and started looking for the bears! If you can see the little brown spot in the center of the picture, you have spotted the bears! We enjoyed watching the two bears eat across the field for a good 20 minutes. The kids enjoyed climbing on the fence in between looks. A few new people showed up and we shared our binoculars with them and showed them where to find the bear. One lady who stopped, had been to Yellowstone six times and had never seen a bear. WOW! I realized at that moment what a gift it was to see these bears. How special. We decided to hit the road and head back north when the bears went into some trees and we lost sight of them. When we got back on the road, the bear was moving toward the road and people were starting to move toward their cars. The Park Rangers at Yellowstone ask viewers to stay over 100 yards away from bears. We were safely in our car and heading north to our hotel.
