Valentine!

Happy Valentine's Day! Cade woke early and wrote a special Valentine for his teacher Grandma Bev. Cade's heart has really been challenged these last few weeks and Grandma has helped to walk him through some hard moments in his heart. His words in his valentine to her were full of thankfulness and appreciation for her love. His heart is growing.

PCA Spirit Week!

The boys had a fun week dressing up for PCA's spirit week! I didn't get a picture for each day because they were usually running out the door as we were finishing up their accessories!! Definitely and fun and crazy week!

Exhausted!

Many nights we find Callie asleep in the hallway when Curtis and I make our way to bed. She will come out of her room and fall asleep right outside her door. She knows she is not suppose to come out, so she will stop herself outside her room before coming down the steps to get us. She is rather adorable when she is sleeping, and she is always a gift to put back in bed. 

 

Last Hockey Sunday

With temperatures reaching 60 degrees the boys played their last hockey for the season at Echo Bluff! The ice was slush, making skating, passing, and shooting a challenge. It was hard on both the boys but they fought through to make the last session a success. Joel isn't too excited to try hockey again next season, but Cade is in! And who knows, Joel may want to try it next season when the time comes!! We have had a great time trying a new sport!

Morning Cook!

Cade got inspired to make our family eggs and pancakes on Saturday morning in honor of Valentine's Day. He learned how to cook eggs in a glass bowl in the microwave at school. He successfully cooked me two eggs and served them to me in bed before I came down to guide and help him with browning the sausage and mixing the pancakes together.  It was very sweet. His passion and excitement to cook was precious! 

 

February Scooter Ride

The weather has been nice enough for us to be out and about! We pulled out the scooter and she hasn't missed a beat in her scooter skills! The wind in our face made the ride a little chilly but our hats and mittens kept us warm enough to make it around the block! Spring is coming!!

 

Snow! Sledding!

We received a couple inches of snow and we couldn't resist getting out to ride down a little slope on a sled. It is hard to find a hill in the flat lands of IL where we live, but thankfully we have some friends who own land in the country so we were able to sled on their slope. It may have been the only 30 minutes of sledding we get this winter. We have hardly seen snow!! Smiles were all around!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Culver's Date

We went on a lunch date, just the two of us, to Culver's after library time! We enjoyed eating and coloring a picture together! 

 

Food Creationist

Joel loves to make creations out of his food! We had "brupper" this evening and Joel gave Mickey a face with his fruit! And of course he had to show off his Shopkins!

 

Sunday Hockey - Week 4

Our unusually warm weather has caused for a nice temperature to watch Sunday hockey, but has made the ice slushy, hard to skate on, and very wet when falls happen. The last two weeks have been hard on Joel but he is enduring. The drills have been hard with the conditions which has made it harder to enjoy. Cade is enjoying the competition and always comes away with a few goals during the second session of play. Hockey has made our Sundays a rush, but I am glad we have given it a try. Hopefully we are creating a love for the joy of sports, whether we ever try a season of hockey again or not.  

 

 

Groundhog Day!

Groundhog Day Fun! We made our groundhog puppet at library story hour today! So fun! The groundhog did see his shadow this year, so we will have 6 more weeks of winner, they say! 

 

Late Night Dress Up!

She was full of fun and smiles when it was time to settle down for bed tonight. She makes our hearts full!

 

February 1st

We lived five days with our refrigerator out of commission. The fridge and freezer were not cooling down to the correct temperature. Thankfully we were low on groceries so we did not have a lot of groceries to try to keep cool. We loaded our coolers full and set them outside. We spent a couple days going in and out, and then realized we needed reinforcements. Curtis brought home his fridge from his office and we had a little easier access to groceries. The repair man was delayed in fixing our fridge because his answering service wasn't working well, but once he came, he ordered the part and within two days our fridge was cooling!  It was a fan in freezer that was needed to circulate the air. Thankfully it was not an expensive fix, and the labor was easy. It was not a fun week adjusting to this inconvenience, but we made it work. And we did not eat out all week! Success!! Also, our fridge got cleaned out and looked sparkly clean when things went back in!

 

Speech Contest

This was Joel's first year to participate in the school speech contest. All of his classmates did a wonderful job. Joel correctly pronounced his words and made nice pauses in the correct spots. He spoke clearly, and loudly. He was chosen as an alternate in the Bible category to represent his class at the ACSI Speech contest in Peoria in a few weeks. He was very excited!! 

Cade did an amazing excellent job on his Speech this year, as well. He memorized I Corinthians 13. He has great emphasis, nice pauses, and speed. He is a machine at memorizing, and does such a nice job when the task is out before him. He will be representing his class in Peoria (and is most excited about a trip to Golden Corral for lunch!). This will be his last year to compete in this contest. In the future it will be the junior high contests locally. 

 

Family Reading Night!

Cade's class did a class reading of Charlotte's Web for the PCA Family Reading Night. There was a great turnout for the event and lots of excitement! Joel's class did a special presentation about the book, Watch Out for Joel! What a fun way to make reading fun!!
