Monday Morning at The Fair!

Monday started with a dash down to the sheep barn to catch the 4H Market Lamb Sheep Show!! We had to catch a Bents’ first time showing at the State Fair!

And then we hit the Giant Slide! A ride with Daddy and a yearly tradition!! 


On our quest for a corn dog, we went by a face painting booth. Callie worked at saving her money all year to be able to get her face painted at the Fair. Every time we would go to a garage sale or a store, she would ask if she purchased something if she could still have the money to get her face painted. She was conscientious all year long about her money. She was thrilled when it came time for it to happen. She was super sweet to the painter and the lady gave her a free tiara before we left. What a wonderful memory of the Fair for Miss Callie Mae!

Before Daddy left the kids got one more ride with him on the Sky Glider! And he ended his 2018 Fair time with a Polish Sausage! 

Off to the Fair!

This year we got the privilege of sleeping in Jeremy and Katie’s RV. They purchased a new trailer a few weeks prior to the Fair, but they didn’t sell the RV and offered for us to stay in it. It was nice having all hard walls and quiet. 

We headed to the Fair on Sunday, August 12. Most of our family arrived the Sunday prior to set everything up! When we arrived, everyone else was established and we just jumped right in on the Fun. Grandma met us at the camper and helped us get all set in the camper. We then headed down to the Fair! Joel wanted to go to th Flea Market right away so we headed there before going to find our family at the Sheep Barn! And the Army tent was on the way, so we all did a few push ups to earn a new water bottle! 

We walked through the Agriculture Building after some dinner together! The kids ran through the flower garden and we had a big surprise as we were walking past the butter cow. Dad showed up!! Curtis decided to join us for a few hours at the Fair!! 

We stopped by the 6pm ice carving and then an ice cream treat before heading up to a 7pm concert! Grandma wanted us to see the 13 year old drummer. He was quite talented! We don’t normally stay down st the fairground into the evening hours so it was a different evening for us than normal at the Fair! Definitely worth it since we only got half a day! Three more days at the Fair .... so exciting!! Fun around every corner!

Cade’s First 2018 Football Game!

We headed up to Rochelle for week 1 of PYFL!! It was hot! Hot! Hot! The players had to be there super early, so Joel and Callie and Mommy found a sprinkler park about 15 minutes away and went to cool off before the game started. Sadly the football boys got really tired and hot being outside. When the first whistle blew, our boys just got blown over with Rochelle’s power. Sadly we lost 30-0 in our first game. Rochelle was definitely a great team and will be on our radar to beat next year!! 

Magnet Maker Man!

Joel loves his shape magnets!! He creates and creates and creates all sorts of cool designs! While shopping at Aldi we found a set which was a great price and he added many pieces to his collection of magnets!! It was a great way for him to spend some of his money! He made a double circle car as soon as we walked in the door from our shopping trip. His mind and hands work together perfectly to make great designs! Way to go Joel!! I love seeing your creations! God has made you fearfully and wonderfully!

Baseball Splash Pad

We made a quick stop over at the new splash pad in Peru before a quick and unexpected stop at the audiologist!! Wow! It is awesome! What a great place to run off some steam and stay cool! We only got about 30 minutes of playtime, but it was wonderful! We will definitely be back! The baseball theme was super fun!! 

And thankfully there was nothing wrong with Joel’s hearing aids!! Hopefully just a little moisture in them was making them glitch! We will blame it on the summer heat which means sweat! 

Flowers at Ms Robin’s!

While Joel was golfing and Cade was helping Grandma, Callie and Mommy went to Ms Robin’s to have lunch and see her beautiful flowers!! She was having some young ladies and kids over for lunch as an act of hospitality! It was a wonderful time ministering and loving on others! What a beautiful example Robin is of teaching the younger women of the Church to love the Lord!! We are so thankful for Robin’s generosity and care! She loves her flowers so much and it was fun to explore them with her! Thank you for having us over Robin! 

Golfing Thoughts!

Pop loves to golf and this summer he put a little golfing bug in the kids!! Cade has gone a couple times and played with him. He did quite well! And since big brother went, we had to find a time for Joel to go to. His day finally came and he just couldn’t wait! We had to do some practicing in the backyard before Pop arrived! Callie can’t wait till it is her turn .... some day!

Go Cubs Go! Off to Kansas City!

We can’t let a day of summer fun escape us, so we are off on another day of fun! The Lambert’s planned a trip to the Royals versus Cubs baseball game, and invited us to meet them there. Of course we couldn’t say no, Cousins + Cubs = super perfect!! We made a quick 48 hour trip of fun and got to catch a W in Kansas City for the Cubs!!! What a joy to get to do something fun in August with the Lambert’s!! We are all off back towards home filling our days with school and sports now. These are some special friends right here!!
