Moving In & Pop’s Birthday!

We had two more days of moving in and unpacking and play! Pop worked on installing a dishwasher, Cade assembled Uncle Chuck’s smoked, we ran a lot of errands, and cooked food. Grandma even gave Joel a couple of his tests for school that he missed because of our little trip. We had a busy few days and hoped we were helpful to the Lambert’s with our presence! 

We ended our time together celebrating Pop’s birthday with everyone home and gathered around the table. It may have been Pop’s first birthday with all of his grandchildren in his presence. Happy Birthday Pop! 

Caleb’s Football Game

Rain, cold, and mud was the recipe for Caleb’s football game on Thursday evening. The school parking lot was muddy muddy muddy! We took our coats, hats and blankets and cuddled in! Caleb’s team went down to start the game, but battled back and ended up taking the game by over 35 points in the second half. The field was so muddy it was like an ice skating rink. It was so hard for the players to move. The white numbers on the jerseys were definitely mud covered and unreadable the second half of  the game. It felt like a demolition derby! 

Cade enjoyed running up and down the sidelines as Caleb drove down the field. Pop was just sure Cade got just as much exercise as Caleb! Callie and Joel cuddled to stay warm, and then went and played with other kids. 

We are proud of Caleb and his team! What a great season they have had! 

Happy 5th Birthday!

My baby turned 5 on October 25th. We had planned to have a “cat birthday” at home, but with the quick change of plans, our cat birthday became a COUSINS BIRTHDAY!! Callie has never gotten to celebrate with her cousins before for her birthday! What a treat! Aunt Kim spoiled her with many gifts, balloons, and a neon colored cake! She felt so special and loved the celebration! And Grandma still made it a “cat birthday” by surprising Callie with a cat ears headband in her gift! 

Change of Plans!

We had a quick change of plans in our week with the decision for Mom and the kids to head to Kansas with Pop and Grandma for a long weekend. The decision came on Wednesday around noon with a departure by 1pm. Pop and Grandma were going to help the Lambert’s unpack into their new home and see Caleb’s first playoff game of the football season. Cade got wind of Pop and Grandma’s travels and wanted to go. He was willing to give up a basketball game and paintballing with youth group to go. We knew it wouldn’t be fair for him to just go and we couldn’t send all three with Pop and Grandma, so we decided Mom would go too. The van was good on oil and Mom didn’t have anything on her work schedule. So in no time, we were off on our adventure! 11 Hour van ride, here we come!

The Lambert’s were quite excited when we walked in the door at midnight on Wednesday. We got a short night’s rest and the days of play started! Thankfully the kids were off of school and only had ball practices to attend. Aunt Kim and Uncle Chuck had work things to attend to, so the Odell’s settled in and started unpacking boxes! Grandma Bev and Mom got Aunt Kim’s kitchen unpacked, washed, and put away! We randomly hung pictures on nails in the walls, and tried to make their new house, home!

Cookie Making!

It is birthday week for our Callie Mae. She will be 5 years old on Thursday the 25th of October! She will be the birthday student for her preschool class on Wednesday. She gets to bring the snacks, and decided she wanted to bring sprinkle topped sugar cookies to her friends! Momma mixed up a new recipe, and Callie and Daddy rolled out the dough to cut out the cookies. We had 12 to take to her class and a few left over for the family! Birthday fun!

She had a great time celebrating at school on Wednesday! I caught her with her classmates in the hallway while I was at school. Her friend Mia was missing, but here are the other girls in her class - Mimi, Kaylee, and Sutter! 


Mia had to be gone during Callie’s birthday,  it surprised her before she left with a Unicorn Costume to play with. So cute! So fun! 

The Great Trout Fish

Pop invited the boys to go trout fishing with him early on Saturday morning, so they spent the night in Wyanet! Callie didn’t do the early morning fishing, but spent the night too. Pop said the boys couldn’t keep their poles in the water because the fish were jumping on their hooks! They got their limit in no time! Daddy and Mommy came over mid-morning to Wyanet 

Basketball at Ladd

We face Ladd for basketball this week. Though Cade doesn’t start on the A team, he contributes to the team as the first one off the bench, and enjoys playing with the 8th graders. Ladd is our big rival in our new conference. Our two teams are closely matched and it was a very close game. We went into overtime and ended up loosing, but we are excited for when they come to our place to play. It is going to be a different game! Cade was a big contributor in the A game, and helped the B team, as well.  

Spider Girl Visit

Spider Girl visited for the day. She played with Walter and then got some scootering in. She performed quite the tricks over at the high school. The survailiance cameras may have caught some pretty good scooter action with only the face of Spider Girl! She didn’t take off her mask for at least 30 minutes while scootering around the high school and at the stadium. She has quite the talent on that scooter. Who knew Spider Girl was good on wheels too?!

The End of the Season!

Joel and I ended our season of soccer on Wednesday evening at a 5 o’clock game. Joel shined in the game. He has great skills on offense and is a ball hawk. We need to work on his strength to kick the ball to put it in the back of the net, but he does a great job in the center of the field moving the ball down to the net. He really staarted to understand the concept of spacing and passing and crossing as the season ended. It was a joy to coach Joel this season and I hope we can do it again. This may be his sport! We will see what the future holds. Thank you Joel for letting me be your Coach. 

BVEC Music Festival

After Joel’s soccer game on Tuesday, we hustled to Cade’s choir concert! We have a FULL week this week!

PCA joined a new conference this year and it has made our extra curricular activities schedule very full. This year Pop volunteered to host the music festival. It was a VERY BIG undertaking. We had to provide the students with dinner, places for the students to practice and hang out, and seating for the concert during the evening. It was all hands on deck, and our teachers and church members stepped up to the plate to help and serve! Though everyone was completely exhausted the next day, they did well. We pray the many who walked through the doors of our building saw Something different about our school. We pray they saw Christ. We pray they saw Christ through those serving. We pray they heard about Christ through Pop’s prayer at the beginning of the event. We pray seeds were sown.

 

The concert to end the evening went well. Cade really enjoyed the song Ezekiel’s Wheel. He was exhausted from the day with people,  but he did enjoy the singing. He really does love to sing. I pray this continues for the lifetime ahead of him. He has a beautiful voice. I love his ears and how they hear the music. I love his mind and how he is able to decipher the music. I love him. Congratulations Cade on a great concert! You are a talented musician!

And we enjoyed a second dinner after our day was all done! 

Happy Soccer!

We celebrated a great season with The Orange Flames at Monicals after our second to last game of the season. We had theee make up games this week to finish up the season. We didn’t end the season on a win, but we saw great improvements from everyone. We really gained consistency and momentum with our games happening so close together at the end of the season. It would have been fun to keep playing but it was definitely COLD the last few games! Happy end of the season Flames!

Brupper ... Breakfast for Supper

One of our favorite supper menus is breakfast food for dinner. We enjoyed waffles this evening with some yummy NingXia Syrup, hashbrowns, sausage, and eggs! Mom has also been making some French toast which everyone has fallen in love with. 

Creating!

Melty beads are a favorite in our home! We have fun “molds” for the kids to make shapes with different color patterns, but they also love to “free hand” and make their own designs. Callie was working on a heart in this photo for our sponsored girl in Peru, South America. They share a birthday. She also made a gold and royal design for a friend whose school colors correspond! It is fun to make for others! The boys have been making soldiers for their army and Joel is always creating some creation with him amazing imagination! They even play with what they create .... battles and conversations! One of our favorite toys!

Bunchems

We ended our Friday evening at home making a monkey out of Bunchems! Callie and Joel worked together after getting their teeth brushed to make this cool guy! Joel even made a little one with the left over Bunchems when we finished the big guy! For how late it was into the evening, they worked rather nicely together and we had a fun time creating! Sleep tight! 

Listening to Daddy!

Friday night came and even though the PHS Tigers game was at home, we chose to stay home! We had a long week with basketball in the evenings, and the weather was cold! So we cuddled in, the kids picked a movie, and mommy listened to Daddy broadcasting on WZOE on the Tune-In app. Every so often, Callie would grab the ear piece Mom wasn’t using and listen. Daddy did a great job and the Tigers won! 

Snow in October!

By the time preschool was out on Wednesday, we had snow falling! It wasn’t just spitting, flakes were really falling! Callie went and twirled and danced in the falling flakes! Wow .... winter can’t already be here!

On to the Next Season!

On to basketball ..... The Malden tournament started on Tuesday and the Eagles showed up to play! The PCA Eagles went 3-0 for the week beating Malden, Neponset, and Ohio. The boys got first place in the tournament and placed three on the all-tournament team! Callie and Joel were excited for the season to start too because they get to spend the games with their friends! For His Glory! 

Walter!

Cuddles and chasing make for a great day for Sir Walter McFluffy Pants! This cat sure has made life a bit more fun at home! 

Championship Football!

The Tigers got to play in the championship weekend (first weekend in October!)  for their conference! This year they played in the 3rd place championship game. Like last year, they faced Dixon. This year we won and got third place in our conference! We were proud of Cade’s play during the game and for his excellent effort all season. 

Cade’s basketball coach, Bob, and his daughter Hannah and son Paul, came to cheer on Cade. He has been playing both basketball and football for the last couple weeks and Bob was excited to see him end his football season. It was so kind he came out. 

Cade has also been cheered on all season by Pop, Grandma, Callie, and Joel. They have been great supporters and are excited for him each week!! 

And we can’t forget Daddy and his undying love for Cade to coach him and his team. Daddy worked hard all season making as many practices as he could to help develop the Tiger players. Curtis is a joy to watch encouraging the kids and teaching them how to be better players and young men!
