Lunch Time Snuggles

Joel always looks forward to Curtis' homecoming at lunch time. He loves the snuggles and the hugs, not to mention the big BOO when Curtis comes in the door. I love that Curtis makes it a priority to come see us when he is able over the lunch hour. We always enjoy having him home. 

Goofy Boy!

Everyone loves to dress in their bathrobe and bow tie for the day, including Joel! 

What a fun boy! The bathrobe has been a  necessity around here with the coldness this winter.  The bow tie was a GREAT find in the bottom of a box. He is such a charmer! 

Grandma Glenna's Visit

Grandma Glenna came to visit in the cold of winter! We got a big snow storm so she helped us shovel out and enjoy some playtime fun in the snow. We had a great time!

Fort Time!

The boys built massive fort that covered the entire living room floor. They were so proud of their creation!

Honey Cakes!

Ms. Patty comes into Cade's classroom each Thursday and spends time reading to the children. She has been reading a book called the Beary Tales. She recently sent home a recipe for Honey Cakes that was in the book. Though it took us a month to make the recipe we finally got to it on one of our snow days. It was delicious and we ate them up with some yummy chilli for dinner. Great job Cade!

Snow Playtime!

We really haven't been able to play in the snow this winter because it has been so cold. Plus the winter is getting really long and the boys are sick of seeing snow. It doesn't help that I can't go out because I need to stay in with Callie. When Grandma Glenna was here I was able to go out and help Cade build a couple forts. Cade will go out with Curtis and help him for a bit, but he now won't even do that because he doesn't like the snow anymore, he said. Joel doesn't like the cold so he has been out only once or twice. So this will probably be our one snow playing picture of the winter. 

Playtime!

Callie is 3 months old and loves to play on the piano playmat. We borrowed this cute playmat from a friend and it has been perfect. She can kick the piano to make music and then watch and touch the toys hanging. She coos at the toys and loves to talk to them. 

Big Brother Cade!

Station Activities

One of the activities Cade asked for on a "cold" day home from school was to do stations. He enjoys working on one project for 20-30 minutes and then switching to a new one. Our stations included painting, coloring, file folder games, home made look & finds, playdoh or slime, and a couple others. We did about 3 different rotations before he wanted to move on to something else. Joel loves doing the station activities as long as he gets a bit of Squeanky time in between. I work hard at creating new game and activities they can do during station time. My newest creation was file folder game - matching, counting, rhyming, patterns. I am hoping to laminate the games and the attach Velcro to the back so we can take them in care trips. What fun!

Days at Home!

Cade has spent 3 more days at home because of the freezing cold temperatures. It has been hard to keep him busy. I have had many activities planned but the days get long and the energy gets more and more pent up. He has done well, but I definitely am glad he has the opportunity to go to PCA. School is great for him socially, emotionally, and physically. It makes him get out of his comfort zone, but also nurtures him at the same time. He is a sensitive boy with a competitive spirit driving him.

Ice Skating!

We has Nikki Isaacson take our family pictures on January 20. The boys did a great job ands were so cooperative during the process.  With their great attitudes we decided to award them with a fun afternoon of ice skating in Wyanet. Wyanet flooded their tennis courts and it makes a decent little ice skating rink. Cade has been dying to wear the ice skates I go him at a garage sale, so this was the perfect opportunity. The unfortunate part was the skates were 1.5 sizes to small, but he wore them anyway. I packed brooms and a couple tennis balls for the boys to play some broom ball. It worked pretty well and I believe the goal of fun was achieved! It was such a treat to have Pop along for the adventure, as well. What a great friend he is to our boys. He is such a blessing. 

Growing so big!

Callie is just days away from being 3 months old. We borrowed a bassinet from Curtis' cousin for Callie to sleep in next to our bed. It has been a wonderful place for Callie to rest her head. She is almost getting to big for it and I will be needing to transition her to her room. I already dislike getting up in the night in the freezing cold, so I am not looking forward to walking into her room to feed her in the cold. It will happen sooner than later. I will have to adjust to listening to her through a monitor at night. Definitely different from when the boys were 2 feet away from us in the next room. Change. Change. You think I would be okay with it by now. I always hate to put my babes in their own rooms, but I know it is needed. 

Dolly

Callie and Dolly played together for the first time. She was holding Dolly and trying to pick her up and move her toward her mouth. The boys love watching her move more and more. They are always putting their toys near her in hopes she plays with them. I am constantly reminding the boys to keep their toys away from her so she doesn't put then in her mouth. I am praying for protection over her. There are going to be so many little toys she is goin to have to avoid as she begins to move and use her hands well. Oh Lord protect her.
