Fishing At Captain Swift Bridge

We had another hour of fishing together as

a family. This time at the Captain Swift Bridge in the Big Bureau Creek! Cade found a sweet spot and was pulling them out like crazy! Joel tried for a bit but then found a frog and enjoyed his company. Callie enjoyed a walk with Joel, the frog, and Mommy for awhile. When she went back to her pole, she had a fish!! It was a quick stop but a fun one to fish in a creek. We even saw some deer prints. Definitely fun to enjoy what God has created to give Him glory! 

Zearing Park Fishing

On Friday evening, Curtis had a track meet but the weather was just beautiful so we had to get out. Cade has wanted to fish at the Zearing pond for some time. We rigged up his bike to hold two poles and we all headed to Zearing on our bikes. I played at the park with Joel and Callie while Cade went down to the pond. Eventually we all ended up at the pond together. Though Cade had worms, he didn’t catch anything. It is very fun to watch his boyhood desire to go fishing pop up! And he has a little shadow that adores him. 

Family Fishing!

If has been days (maybe even weeks!)  since we have had a free evening together as a family. We seem to function better when we get one night a week just together, but it doesn’t always happen. It sure is so refreshing when it does! 

We made it over to the Hennepin Canal Parkway fishing pond and the kids caught some trout! We spent time chatting in the truck and spotted a few turkies and deer. We even stopped in Wyanet for some pizza with Pop and Grandma on our way home (Grandma was excited to have fish to eat!). It was so nice to get away and let the world go by for a few hours! 

Friends!

We got to watch Jacob and Levi a couple days this Spring. Friends always make life a little (often, a lot) more exciting!!! Callie did a great job helping to keep the boys happy!

Germany’s Grand Finale!

We finished up Cade’s Germany project with a tri-fold poster! Grandma Glenna was a big help in making Cade’s project extra special. Grandma has done research in year’s past with Grandma Opal Bents about our family’s connection to Germany. Great Grandma Opal Bents penpaled with her father’s brother’s family for many years. Grandma Glenna sent Cade the information she had complied with Grandma Bents so he could display it with his project. It was fun to see his eyes light up as he figured out how we had family ties to Germany. Thanks Grandma Glenna for your help! 

The other highlight of the project for Cade was providing his country’s food. From the beginning, Cade wanted to serv bratwurst and that is what we did. Pop helped Cade smoke the broughts the night before the Nation Fair. He had over 100 samples for peopleand was so excited to share these tasty bites of meat! 

It was nice to have this big project end on a high note!! Great work Cade! 

Pepper Faces!

I will miss the fun of our lunches when she heads to school. Thankful for one more year together!! May she never loose her laughter and sillies no matter how serious life gets.

Awana Derby 2018

We had two cars that finished in the top 5 this year. Cade got third and Joel was so close. The boys had really fast cars, but the cars that beat them were built to have faster speed at the end. It was a great night of racing! Unfortunately Momma got sick and missed the big race, so was thankful for Daddy getting a picture of the boys atthe race and another friend shared a picture of the track with Callie playing. Though it takes a lot of work to preparing for race night, we do have a lot of fun come race night! 

More Adventures with Hairs!

We took one of Hairs’ kittens with us as we went out! Life is always an adventure! 

Coloring Eggs

We were a few days late in coloring our eggs this year for Easter, but we did it the week after! We made our own dye with vinegar, food coloring and water. It wasn’t to vibrant but it worked. Callie and Joel were a bit disappointed, but our eggs still looked nice when they were done! 

Steak Reward

Cade finished up his 5th grade nation notebook the Monday after Easter, before it was due on Tuesday! What a labor! He worked on this 75 page book all school year all at home. It was very overwhelming assignment, but each page we battled through and made it to the end! Daddy ended our Spring Break celebrating Cade’s accomplishment with steak! We realized a few days prior, our kids have never had steak before. It was time and Cade loved it!! Congrats Cade!

Trampoline Excitement!

We received a trampoline from an older couple in church whose family is grown. The kids were so excited to get it up! We had a bit of problem solving to do to get the springs connected and definitely needed Curtis’ muscles to connect the springs to the tarp. After one attempt, we successfully did it on our second attempt!! And the kids were off to jumping! Though the world of trampolines scare us, we have tried to lay out good guidelines for the kids, and remind them of wise play on the trampoline. They play on it everyday and absolutely love it. Thank you Cornman family for your gift! 

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! The Lord has risen, He has risen indeed!! We celebrated our risen Lord with an extra morning service and breakfast at church with our church family. After church we had a yummy ham and sides with Pop, Grandma, and Don. The kids talked about an egg hunt all week, so Mommy prepared some eggs the night before with some goodies in them! We had a nice day as a family, and when evening hit we were tired. The weekends always seem to wear us out! 

Hoop!

Daddy got the cement set up and basketball pole in while we were gone at Grandma and Grandpa’s this week. With Saturday’s arrival, the final touches were happening. Cade and Daddy worked hard on the backboard and by evening, we had a working adjustable hoop!! So fun! We can easily crank the backboard between 6 feet and 10 feet. Dunking at 6 feet has been a favorite! Daddy’s goal was by the end of Spring Break and he did it! Success!

The kids had a big surprise waiting for them on Saturday morning! Tori and Josh were in town and Ben came to our house for the first time! All three kids were so excited to hold him!
