Hearing Report

We had a bit of an alarming report from the school nurse who came to check the PCA  student's ability to hear. Joel doesn't seem to be hearing everything. I have noticed the last few years that he doesn't seem to hear me, but Curtis and I brushed it off as he was focused on playing and he was "zoned". Well, we went and had our wonderful friend Everett take a look at Joel's ears. We checked to see if wax build-up could be the problem, but unfortunately it isn't. Joel did get to see his eardrum, which he thought was pretty amazing, but Joel does seem to have some hearing loss. Everett's first question after we discovered it wasn't wax build up, was about antibiotics. He wondered if Joel took a significant amount when he was young, and he did for his many respiratory issues.  We found there to be a correlation with antibiotics and Joel's teeth health, as well. We will continue to monitor this and continue to avoid antibiotics. It is an alarming concern for us because of the deep history of hearing loss on my Dad's side of the family. 

With continued monitoring, a bit of oils, and prayer, we hope his hearing will be restored and no longer a concern. 

Reading Man!

Joel loves reading his books from school so he can get "signed off" on them. He is a diligent worker and I am so thankful for his willingness to work hard. Proud of this boy!

 I think my two boys know how the sounds of the English language work better than me. Maybe by the time my third child goes through school I will be able to remember all of the crazy rules of our letter sounds! Maybe!

PCA Speech Contest

Cade participated in his third PCA School speech contest and qualified again for Peoria. He did a passage out of Joshua this year. I can't even remember the extract reference, but this kid can have a passages memorized as soon as he hears it. He is amazing.  I hope he can keep this ability his whole life. What a gift. We are so proud of your Cade! Congratulations on qualifying for Peoria!

Lost Tooth #4

February 2 - 8:20pm

Daddy successfully pulled out another tooth! This is tooth #4 lost for Joel! You will notice the nice gap in the bottom of his row of teeth.

Fresh Air

Momma was ready for some fresh air so we took a scooter ride around the block! The weather was in the 30s and the wind was not bad. It hasn't snowed much this year, but I am ready for warmer moments, physical activity, and sunshine!

100 Day!

February 1st brought us the 100th Day of School! Joel had a full day of counting in kindergarten!!

Family Nerf Night!

We enjoyed a family Nerf fight on our first free Sunday evening in months! We invited the Bullington Family to join us at church, and we set up the gym with obstacles to begin our fight. We enjoyed an evening together dividing into different teams and launching darts at each other. We had lots of laughs. 

Miss Patty was working at church for the evening and she joined us for a few rounds! She was just tickled!

Saturday Fun!

Cade enjoyed his day at Joelle's birthday party with his classmates, so Joel and I went out for a little fun while Daddy stayed home with Callie. Joel and I connected with Pam and Kaylyn at Annie's Little Pots to do some painting. 

Joel choose a tank that he wanted to paint for Cade. This will be Cade's Valentine's Day gift from Joel. I plan to pick it up today. I hope it looks good. Joel loves art projects. I think he has an artistic talent. He is always willing to take his time and just create. His patience allows for his mind to run wild and enjoy the process of art. 

After painting, Kaylyn invited Joel to go bowling with her family. He was so excited. They had to drive over to Peru because our local alley had a tournament.  They had a great time. 

Preparing for 100 Day!

We spent part of our Sarurday morning preparing for Joel's 100 Day! We collected and counted 100 Squinkies and creatively found a way to display them. Joel grouped them into categories of likeness and made sure each group had 10. We had a fun time together and Joel was so proud of his project!

Nerf Night - Week 2

We enjoyed another fun evening at Nerf Night! Over 20 kids showed up so it was a bit more chaotic and bullets were flying everywhere. Unfortunately with all the activity and many young ones, it was hard to know when people got out. It was more frustrating for the boys this week, but they still had fun. 

Goodbye Little One!

We got to spend the day with Jonalyn before she moved to Florida. Callie had so much fun and was delighted to have her over. Callie will be so sad when she realizes Jonalyn is gone. They would have been in the same class at PCA together. Friends come and go, but it is still hard to see them go. I pray the Lord will surround Jonalyn and her family as they make a new life for themselves. May their hearts still trust Christ as their only way to salvation. Goodbye little Jonalyn. We hope we see you again in Illinois. 

More Afternoon Fun!

More fresh air on our Thursday afternoon!

Callie wanted to play at the "park". I am glad we only had to go to the back of our yard! Callie ride in the swing, down the slide, and drove to "run errands".

Afternoon Fun!

We have been enjoying lunch picnics on the kitchen floor. Callie isn't much for eating breakfast or lunch so I try to make it bit more interesting. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't! 

After our lunch we enjoyed getting some fresh air outside. It is so nice to get out. Momma misses her Vitamin D and fresh air! 

Library Story Hour

We enjoyed a little lesson about the Chinese New Year at story hour last week. Callie was brave and walked under the dragon as we paraded around the room. She even was willing to touch its "blinking" eyes! What a fun little "school" lesson we had!

  

Super Girl!

Callie and I spent the morning cleaning up and putting away. We have an abundance of toys that end up everywhere but where they are suppose to go! We found this fun mask and had to play a bit in the midst of our work. I live her smile here!
