CreativeHands!

Callie’s hands are always helping and creating. Here are our activities in the last week which she has used her hands to work with - baking, gluing, writing, bunchems, and cooking. 

Morrison Football Game!

We had two weeks of football in which Cade played up with the seventh grade team because the towns we faced did not have 6th grade teams. It was a tough two weeks to stay motivated with practice being weird and playing every few snaps in the games. Cade powered through and enjoyed the challenge despite the frustration of a hard situation. Nice blocking #50! 

Football at Stillman Valley!

Joel had a morning soccer game and then we headed north with Pop to Stillman Valley. We had a beautiful day to play. The Tigers came away with the victory! And Mom finally got a picture of Cade in his jersey (better late than never!)!  

Contact Lenses!

Cade has successfully got his contacts in and is a happy boy! It definitely hasn’t been without tears, but the determination to get his contacts in has paid off. He has gone from it taking an hour to just five minutes. Yes we have had our days when they haven’t gone in right away, but he is learning to not get upset, take a deep breath, and try again. He is learning more time management in the mornings and is learning how to  take more responsibility for himself. 

TIU Women’s Soccer

Mommy went and watched the Trinity women’s soccer team in action in Davenport when they played St. Ambrose! I took a high school student with me, and had a great evening away. Though TIU lost, it was fun to see such a high level of play and the beauty of crisp passes and moving on the field. It was hard to believe at one time, I could actually play at such a high level. It always encourages my spirit to go to a TIU game each season to see the joy of the team dynamic and a game I loved to play. 

Hunting with Daddy

Daddy took Callie squirrel hunting on Monday after she got done at school. They had a great time even though the mosquitos were out and they were without bug repellent. Daddy shot a squirrel in a tree but they never found it. They had a fun time sitting in the woods together and came home without ticks!  

Nail Painting!

Daddy and Pop made it home from fishing so we got to have dinner in Wyanet after church on Sunday. Callie begged and begged Grandma to paint her nails after lunch, and her asking worked with a nice light pink on her nails! Happy girl!

School Pick Up!

With Daddy gone, Callie and Mommy were busy with lots of car rides. We had to pick up the boys each day, so it made our nap time shortened. Callie is doing okay without naps, but it does make for a more pleasant and smooth evening without the whining and fussing when she gets a nice two hours of sleep. Living life tired is hard. A couple days, she got an extra four minutes of nap when she slept in her car seat on the way to school. 

Sewing!

Callie and Mommy have been working on a little sewing project together. We found a Mommy and Baby stuffed raccoon sewing set at The Closet thrift store, so we are trying to tackle the project together. It is a challenging project for Callie, but she is learning how to hold the fabric and go up and down with the needle, all at the same time.  We figured out how to make a starting knot and finishing knot on our adventure, which broadened Mommy’s sewing skills, as well. We did finish the big raccoon, but we didn’t get a picture. We will have the little one to finish in the coming months ahead. 

Sonshine Preschool Orchard Field Trip

Callie had her first field trip of her own at Boggio’s Orchard. She has been a wonderful tag-along on all her brothers trips throughout the years and this time, it was her class going. She enjoyed picking a pumpkin and an apple. We had our yearly picture with Carmel the Camel, went down the slide 50 times, saw the animals, and ran with joy in the Fall sunshine! 

Library Bubble Painting!

It was messy art day at Library the last Tuesday in September! We had a fun time creating with bubbles and paint. Callie took her time being creative with the colors and placement of the bubbles on her paper. Nice artwork Callie girl! 

Surprise!

We had a surprise visitor show up on our back step this week. Sam Wolbrecht was in town and showed up to say hello! The boys enjoyed seeing him.  

Around the House!

I am thankful for the times we are home together. Our evenings have been more full this Fall, with activities so moments at home, are a bit less. We don’t see very many days or evenings without somewhere we need to be, which makes for time constraints with our minutes. It is hard to live in the rush rush rush, but we are learning to work together and be more patient. Moments when we are home without the rush are wonderful! 

  

Days at Home!

I love our days at home. Coloring, bubbles, sewing, cooking, laundry, naps, cleaning . . . In less than a year, our lives will never be the same! We are trying to live up every day of this last year at home together! What a joy! 

Makenzey Wilson’s Bridal Shower

We had a fun bridal shower for Makenzey at church. Mommy and Grandma did a lot of work planning and preparing for this celebration. We had a fun “adventure” theme for the day! The ladies from church blessed Kenzey immensely with their presence, stories, and gifts. Pop and Daddy left for the Branson fishing trip, so the kids stayed at church during the shower. They helped and then got to play on the computers during the shower. We had a great time honoring Kenzey. On our way home from church, we took a country Sunday drive to look for combines harvesting with the windows down! We enjoyed the wind in our faces as we prepared to face the week without Daddy. 

Contact Lenses!

Cade was up for an eye exam and we decided to pursue contact lenses in the hope of saving Cade’s glasses from being broke again and again during basketball season. Even though the doctor made them sound so easy when we were in the office, we found out very quickly that was not reality. After trying for 20 minutes at the office, we were able to go home with them but he didn’t have success in his efforts to get them back in. With the stress of a busy busy schedule with mowing, football, basketball starting up, and school, it was hard to carve out time without the pressure of a time limit. After a couple weeks, we decided now wasn’t the time so Mom called to cancel th appointment. Thankfully the lady at the Vision Center recommend he come back in to work with her and another try was worth it. Yes it took many mornings of frustration getting them in, but it was worth it. It still make take a try or two, but it is worth it. I am sure his glasses would already be broken if we hadn’t. Thank you Lord for giving us perserverance and determination! 

Grandparent Goodbyes!

We had to give hugs and kisses and say goodbye to Grandma and Grandpa on Saturday afternoon. They needed to head home to help at church th next day, so they had to go. Grandma wasn’t feeling great so we were sad to see them go when she wasn’t feeling good. We were so glad they came!
